Mueller History

PRAIRIE DU SAC, WISCONSIN.
BIRTHPLACE OF AN INDUSTRY.

In 1960, Curt Mueller, fresh off his days as a power forward for the University of Wisconsin basketball team and armed as a registered pharmacist, hatched a big idea while working with his father Oliver at the family’s drugstore

INVENTING SPORTS MEDICINE.

Curt realized training room supplies were inadequate for serious athletes. So he used his knowledge of sports and pharmacology to develop better products to protect athletes from injury and enhance their performance. In the process, he coined the term ‘sports medicine’. And a new industry was born.

SUPPORTING ATHLETES THROUGH THE YEARS.

For decades, athletes worldwide have relied on Mueller. Early offerings like M-Tape®, M-Wrap® and the MediKit™ athletic trainer’s kit proved to be training room stalwarts. Then, a complete line of patented braces and supports under the Mueller Sport Care® brand brought a new level of protection to athletes of all levels.

ALWAYS LEADING.

Over the years, we’ve been responsible for numerous inventions and industry firsts – the patented Triaxial Hinge, the Ankle Brace ATF, HydraCinn® fabric, Hg80® Mueller Mercury and Mueller® Green earth-friendly braces and Quench sport gum to name but a few.

THE MUELLER MISSION.

Generations of Muellers continue to run this business, always staying close to the changing needs of athletes, be they weekend warriors or international superstars. The family mission never changes: Help athletes stay in the game, and help them perform at their peak.
